A STOMPer hopes that something will be done soon to improve the terrible conditions at Jurong Park.
In an email to STOMP today (Mar 11), the STOMPer says:
"These pictures were taken at the Jurong Park Connector that runs from Jurong Town Hall Road to the rear entrance of the Chinese Gardens. The retaining wall of the canal has cracks and may collapse soon.
"In the photos, you can see that the railings are broken and left unrepaired.
"NParks has provided this park connector for the benefit of the HDB residents who live in Jurong Town Hall Road. There are also rain shelters, but the lamp in one of them has been broken.
"Usually on Sundays, hordes of foreign workers gather here for their picnic at the rain shelters, but come Monday morning, you see the aftermath of the filth that they left behind.
"You can also see from the photos below the litter that is left behind by the foreign workers. You can see plastic cups, bottles, plastic sheets, newspapers and cigarette boxes.
"The rain shelter is now in a piteous state. I hope NParks will send its rangers to patrol this park connector on Sundays and better still, put up signboards that carries the "No littering" message in Tamil, Bengali, Thai and Myanmar languages.
