STOMPer Daniel spotted this bushfire at the Expo area and sent in this picture at 2:58pm today (Feb 19).
The STOMPer added in a later email:
The firefighters have left the location, and the fire was put down.
"The only signs of the fire are black patches on the grass, and the burnt vegetation around EXPO Max Pavilion.
"There was a two-lane road separating the wild fire and EXPO building, leading me to believe that it was never a threat to them.
"The real danger was that the flames could have easily spread towards the east side - it is an empty site with lots of dry grass - it is where they will build the fourth university.
"That area connects to a residential area on Upper Changi Road East, with residential buildings, schools and churches."
STOMP contacted SCDF and a spokesman confirmed that it received a call at 2.55pm regarding a vegetation fire in the area.
The spokesman said at 4:50pm:
"Four water jets were used to put out the fire, and now damping operations are being carried.
"Two fire engines, two red rhinos and two fire bikes and a support vehicle were sent to the scene."
