The water in this Toa Payoh drain was stained bright blue. It seems that the pollutant was coming from the nearby community centre which was being painted blue.

"Water polluted with bright blue paint found in drain along Toa Payoh Lorong 2.
"Why is our water polluted when our Earth is already dying?
"Shouldn't something be done about it? What is the source of pollution?
"We suspect that it is coming from the nearby CC, which is currently going through a renovation.
"The upper half of the drain across the road which is flowing downstream is not polluted thus the source cannot be from there.
"The CC is going to be painted blue. Could this be the cause?"
The affected area is situated between 2 canals, known as Bukit Timah Diversion Canal 2 and Kallang Subsidiary Drain 2, both of which flow into the Kallang River. You can view the possible future development plans for these 2 canals under the Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) Waters Programme here in this Master Plan for the Central Catchment.
