STOMPer Garfield is concerned with the recent spate of fallen trees around Singapore. She questions if we should rethink having so many trees along our roads and carparks since, it has affected traffic and has become more dangerous when it wrecked a few cars along the way.
Said the STOMPer:
"Trees are God send when we need to seek shelter from the blazing heat. But of late, it has become more of a hazard than a refuge.
"Stories of fallen trees are making their way on the news. Many people are affected by them as fallen trees in major expressway can halt traffic for hours.
"But that is not the only reason for my concern. Some cars have been wrecked by these trees when they fall. Worse of all, someone can actually get hurt if a tree falls on them.
"Is it safe to have so many trees along our roads and carparks?
"Some drivers actually avoid parking beneath or near trees for safety reason and also to avoid get bird poo all over their cars."
