Did lightning strike this tree?

Did lightning strike this tree?
At least one STOMPer thinks so, as he came across this tree along Cluny Road.

The STOMPer then proceeds to deem lightning the enemy of trees, based on his conjunction that it had been struck by it.

In his email to STOMP, he says:

"These two pictures were taken near a Locust tree (Hymenaea courbaril) which can grow to a height of 50 m.

"This tree is found near the NParks HQ at Cluny Road. On the sides of the tree you can see metallic wires running from the crown to the base."
